tokyo inn's riceball breakfast did not make me very happy cos i like variety and meat. if not meat, at least nice buns. but mixing the riceballs with miso soup made it better. rushed to toyota rent a car sapporo branch to get the car. quite exciting cos its my first time driving overseas. we got a cute little silver toyota vitz which is perfect for the two of us and quite spacious really. then we started on the long drive to furano.

it was longer than expected and i've never driven for more than an hour in singapore (cos it doesnt take u that long to get frm one place to another) so when i was nearing my second hour at the wheel, i got a bit of a headache and we made a quick stop at this gigantic 100Y shop. there was a 100Y neoprint machine too and we took great photos with hanabi and onsen backdrop. pity the printing was abit too white. bought lots of food and threw them all onto the backseat for constant supply of energy.

got a major scare when we tried to leave the place. i could not make the car move! it was super scary cos the battery light was on and i suspected tt sth was wrong with the battery. we got help frm the car tt just parked beside us and thank God the driver knew english so there were no communication problems. seems tt i have to set the mode to parking before i could turn on the engine. i think i must have spaced out too much to realise that.
the freedom of driving around in a rented car is tt u can make stops as and when u want. we spotted a beautiful lake and make a quick rest stop. of course we didnt forget to take pretty pictures. it was a long drive to yamasan and the gps system gave us the wrong location. thank God for a kind uncle who drove out so we could follow his car and he directed us to the location.

we deposited our luggage at yamasan before starting out for the flower fields. the sky was cloudy though so some of the photos didnt turn out as nicely as i had wanted them to. and it started drizzling too. but it was a beautiful sight to behold. lavender flowers everywhere. even when the wind blows u can smell the sweet scent. we caught some sunflowers too and other random pretty flowers all nicely arranged in a giant patchwork.

was driven back to the yamasan bcos the rain got heavier. decided to stay in for the rest of the day and try our luck tml at more flower fields, hoping tt the weather will be better. dinner at yamasan's was fantastic. the quality was there and even though it may look like a deceptively small portion, it was actually very filling.

furano had their firework festival but we decided not to squeeze with the crowds. actually it was more like i didnt want to leave the pension house after i've bathed. haha~ u know my odd habits. clean freak. so anyway, we stayed in and i blogged while tobias chatted with mr yamasan.
at 8pm we went out to the back of the house to watch the fireworks. they actually lasted an entire 45mins. i am totally not kidding. it was mind blowing! and to watch it frm such a great location. at some points of time, tobias and i actually leaned backwards cos it looked asif all the fireworks were exploding into us! but yea it was a really wonderful and romantic night. the longest singapore ever had is like 10-15mins? and the fireworks they use here is quite different. the design, the colours. they're totally not stingy abt it. and this firework festival is not one of the major ones. cant imagine if we actually go attend the biggest one in japan man.
