Day 0 Tokyo 25 June 2013

Flight: Beijing to Haneda on Air China 1725 to 2145
Accommodation: Hotel Metropolitan Tokyo $489.59 for 5 nights (room only)

Met the husband at Beijing airport and we took the flight to Tokyo together. Upon reaching Tokyo at close to 10pm, we were eagerly waiting to claim our luggage when *drumroll* his did not turn up. In all our years of travel, we have never lost a luggage. To top it up, we also did not renew our annual travel insurance. He was quite bummed but I still remained excited. Hello, we are in Tokyo - nothing can douse this mood!

Took the airport limousine to Ikebukuro (1200Y each). Was a good choice to hop onto the 10.45pm bus even though it would entail a bit of walking to the hotel. The other bus that will drop us off at the hotel was leaving at 11.25pm.

Managed to locate our hotel quite easily. In case you were wondering how on earth did we bag such a fantastic deal, kudos to ZUJI Singapore with the 50% discount. No, this is not a sponsored ad. We paid for our accommodation.

After dumping our luggage (actually just my luggage!) at the hotel, we headed out to hunt for food cos Air China food was not that great. There were plenty of food options available in the vicinity - Mos Burger, Sukiya, breakfast joints and also small hole-in-the-wall kind of modern Japanese-western bar.

We settled for Sukiya.Obviously I had my cheese gyu-don and he had the promotional item gyu-don with an additional slab of unagi. It was really good and wholesome. The entire meal was just 1570Y. Now you see why I refuse to have Yoshinoya in Singapore.
